My name is Andrè (he/him/his/she/her), and I am 26 years old, hailing from Long Beach, California. I grew up in a household where alcohol, tobacco, and substance use were prevalent. I vividly recall my parents smoking cigarettes and discussing how the urge to smoke would overcome them whenever they felt stressed or overwhelmed by life's challenges. Witnessing my mother’s hospitalization, especially the necessity of breathing through a tube and meeting specific health criteria before being released, was a traumatic experience for me at an early age.

At 26 years old, I have discovered the strength in seeking help, and one prominent resource that comes to mind is Cedars-Sinai. My involvement with the Quit Alliance Movement has significantly shaped my perspective. Through the Quit Alliance, I have become educated, aware, and empowered to quit smoking. The journey to quitting has been transformative, offering me a new lease on life and a healthier future. Cedars-Sinai, along with the Quit Alliance Movement, has provided invaluable resources such as counseling, support groups, and educational materials that have guided me every step of the way. Their compassionate approach ensures that everyone’s needs are met, fostering an environment of understanding and resilience.
